What is an RPG?
Yesterday I asked was Zelda an RPG with varying arguments it could go either way. So maybe the better question would be what is an RPG?
Standard definition is a role playing game a game in which your play your self.... but that is literally every game you can think of. Ok some say it is a game with character development through levelling and experience again that is so many games including all Call of dutys, battlefields and well that sod almost any first person shooter that has an online component. So when it comes to table top such as Dungeons and dragons it isn't clearly defined as one might think you do take the role of your character but alot of what you do isn't chosen by you but on chance of a die roll. I want to open this door you rolled a one so nope not going to happen yeah you would chose that. So I was thinking maybe it's the world you take part in not fantasy or sci fi but what you are able to do in that world. Ok first it has to be an open world no linear corridors telling you where to go. But it has to be truly open no locked doors or people you are unable to talk to even to some extent kill if you so chose.
Because these are thing you can chose to do in the game if you so wish a choice made by you not a dice roll or random encounter. So this automatically throws out the GTA games which the original definition kept in. You have to be able to name your character as your name (or farty mc fart fart if you wish). So this throws out Call of duty and first person shooters in general. Now the enemies have to be defeated by skill and experience so the less you have played the game the easier the enemies are to defeat the more you have played the harder the enemies so actually throws out many games like the arkham series because the enemies aren't based on this mechanic. So we have a truly open world, character named whatever you want, enemies difficulty due to the amount you played. Unlike most game genres which are easy to define RPGs aren't so easy as it covers so many plays styles from first person to Strategy.

Is Zelda and RPG?
I love this debate and pretty much the nonsensicle bull shit that comes with it. You don't level up so it's not an RPG, so rainbow six vegas 2 is with it's leveling system? It's not turn based combat system so there is that I suppose um no the elder scrolls, fallout and tales of games don't have turn based. RPG means role-play game but you play yourself and your decisions make a difference a huge one so with this in mind the fallout, elder scrolls and mass effect series are the purest in the genre where your choices literally change the world around you. Final fantasy doesn't have this even today so console restrictions aren't an excuse. The worse is that final fantasy is now a linear side scrolling beat em up with turn based combat. Where Zelda is an open world adventure rpg. Any where lets check what makes an RPG
No normal game over you have fucked Hyrule with your corpse. Ganons back and you can't do shit hows that for open ended! Now dungeons and rewards for exploring this is easy a third of Legend of Zelda has a secret reward that you have to find and not collectibles actual items that are useful or provide a use or can be traded. Dungeons really the zelda games define dungeons so yeah shut up. Ok the next is a bit harder to explain a levelling system but I think this is a moot point as Call of duty, Rainbow six Vegas 2 actually it's hard to find a game that doesn't have this implemented. Ok the arguement is that the character you play in Zelda doesn't level up ok the character you play in Pokemon doesn't level up either but that is classified as one of the best rpgs. Multiple weapons and items again this is zelda. It defines that shit many sword and tools to find so yeah awesome stuff. Items and power upgrades ok this isn't done "traditionally" but it happens in the game alot with amount you can carry to actually improving your weapon by going from the kokiri blade to the giant sword that is four levels of swordy slashiness. Also what alot of Zelda being not an RPG people forget is that Zelda defined the RPG genre brought it to the people at home so you could go on the adventure as your self and it was simple like a MY first RPG the levelling system was done for you but you still had to gain the experience for you to level up, by defeating bosses and exploring. Being one of the first RPG and those that defined the genre it could argued those that don't conform to Zeldas definition isn't an RPG. But see that is the beauty of zelda not conforming but defining the genre it has left it such an open ended genre that is why we now the get the epics like the elder scrolls and mass effect games. The ability not to define this type of game is what make it so special and that is what makes Zelda an RPG is what we have taking from it this feeling we have saved hyrule that the world is better because of what we done (or fucked it up). The impact it has made on the gaming community isn't matched by any other game series including Mario and Sonic. Defined generations of gamer never changing a great formula and always working it also says something when the newer games are great games just not great zelda games because we know what a zelda game is and we know what makes it great.
- Open ended and open world adventure
- Dungeons and rewards for exploring
- a leveling system
- multiple weapons collection
- items and power upgrades

Insane fortune in seeking games
Ok there is a appropriate reason I said fortune instead of luck mainly because I think that word is unlucky ok silly superstitions aside the meaning behind the title. One reasons I love classic games is the seeking of them out finding them in the wild (I love that term). Then finding them is a great thrill especially when you finish a collection.
But when I really am looking for a game, I find it not always boxed except disc games, seriously anyone who sells a disc on ebay with out the box that and says it is in acceptable condition, needs their head checked. But anyway I found it out in the wild charity or second hand shops. Ok so I was looking for the medal of honor games and now I own them it was a great feeling now it's complete. Ok they might not be all on the same system gamecube ps2 and pc. But I love this series of games from the ps1 to warfighter. Though looking for a game hunting down even sometimes having to work from hints or advice from other people is exhilarating feeling even going to another and city just to grab or play that rare game you have been looking for. Then there is the added and awesome bonus of making a like minded friend who you can help and get helped by.
Then seeing children playing the older games on the original console or downloaded on the newer ones because of their parents brings happiness to the world. The knowledge of what gaming is really about and games should be enjoyed with friends. Ok I think games should be played but I see why having them looking good on a shelf can be enjoyed. Then with these new friends you learn new ways at looking at games and different opinions but non of the fanboy attitude that goes with it. I think it is because it is about the games not the console ok Sonic only appeared on the mega drive but even nintendo fans accepted it was a great game.
So when I hear people saying xbox is better than playstation but only play multiformat games I can't help but think "what are you basing that upon?" Killzone is a good game as is Halo. It's the games that count not the console ok you prefer the controller of the xbox or the look of the PS. But if the games are just awful the console will fail look at the Panosonic CD-i ok they had Mario and Zelda but those names only lasted until it was confirmed they were awful. Again what do you think add your two cents and leave a comment.

Late night gaming
So last night, I went to bed at 5:20 a.m. Tired and exhausted I finished Cold winter on the playstation 2. Then today I finished Metal gear solid 2, two games in one week.
But I hadn't done that in such a long time since fallout 3. Even online multiplayer doesn't hold me that long. I'll get bored. So lets look at Cold winter the graphics aren't great, the story is laughably convoluted and AI can do some random stuff like run right passed you and turn around to shoot you. But the gameplay is unbelievable it runs so well and has a punishment and reward scheme for exploring. You can run in to treasure trove of ammo or an ambush. When the AI works well which is more often than not they will test your observation hide behind a barrel they will shot it. You have unlimited health packs, don't think this makes easy you have to duck and cover or the enemy will find you and kill you. Then sometimes you have to wait for a gadget to hack a door but this isn't like most games an excuse to send wave after wave of enemies. Yet it will only maintain a set number of enemies giving you incentive to clear an area prior to continuing to the next area. Everything in this game works and sometimes you have to use your head can't continue look around you'll find something,
I said the story was laughably convoluted and it is, but it is original. Has a the usual secret society bad guys. But their plan is different it includes nuclear war but as generic as that sounds, there is so much more to it and it touches you and makes you feel something for the characters. That's the thing though for it's flaws a game of quality shines through time and time again and in the end it is fun and that is what gaming is all about not your K/D, not beating some random stranger on the other side of the planet just to have fun simple fun.

Why I collect the 6th generation
Christmas came and went, a new generation came with it. Yes I am talking the Xbox one and PS4 and so far I am not impressed. But I also got a gamecube my heart leapt playing Rogue leader again I sang christmas carols with delight. Then valentines day came and I found a playstation 2 with more grins then all cats in cheshire I played Metal gear solid 2.The flood of nostalgia was intense, now a week later coming to the end of Metal gear solid I realised the new console are getting dusty, the games just as much. I'm not even planning to play any of the new games but thinking of playing Killzone because I never finished it. But I was thinking why this generation? I could of gone older with PS1 and N64 era because they are easy enough to come by and I had both consoles. The games were great I loved them ocarina of time, fear effect 2 and others. But the PS2 and Gamecube were when I started finishing games more frequently I started work and wasn't going outside as much.
So I was finishing games and living the full game was something I was enjoying and didn't even think about going out drinking. So I have more nostalgic feelings towards this generation. I was still playing my playstation one and Nintendo 64, I finished many of the older games but this was the generation I actually started looking forward to new releases. So I getting a new game was a reason to work. Then I started PC gaming so I was starting to bloom as a gaming geek. With all the ups and downs life through at me these were games that cheered me up i could go back again and again. I also believe this was the last generation that actually seemed no to have proper single player campaigns that couldn't be completed over a weekend and took a while (ok I mentioned being almost through MGS2 in a week but this is my first rodeo). With more focus on online multiplayer, split screen is dying no longer is it about joining in with your friends over a cold beer but by being sworn at by kids.
The gaming community is being filled with idiots like these and giving proper gamers a bad name. So until next time have fun and join us on google plus and youtube

Downloading classic games!
While I was playing my Playstation 3 I came to a realisation that Iwasn't playing Playstation 3 games, then this also got me thinking about the last games I played on my 360. I wasn't playing new games. I end up playing classic games such as Final fantasy VIII and Doom. But why I have new games but these games keep pulling me in. First they are so simple Doom I can blast through the first couple of levels in about half an hour and final fantasy is engrossing enough for me to play on a night.
Then I was looking at the games on my phone and yet I see another two final fantasies and three more classic games including earthworm jim, again because these games are simple and fun to pick up on an evening. Then these are games I've completed on other consoles and keep going back to. It's because they leave you with the feeling you have finished a game. They get harder until you are swearing at them (I use the excuse bad customer service when on a train). Unlike the latest games. It's got to a point where I am missing end of level and end of game bosses. The final bad guy that you have been leading up to fight. The reason you have been putting all your time and effort in to the game. Fable II had the worse end of game boss. One shot seriously I was hoping for huge battle good vs evil, same with fallout 3 at least obsidian got it right with New Vegas. But that was the last boss I beat Call of duty Modern warfare 3 you were practically invincible on the last level where's the fun in that.
Some of the older bosses were hard and when they killed you. It made you more determined to play again to beat him. Then once you finally done it you were like ha finally got him. You felt relief, you felt like you done something you journey was finished and even then you didn't really care about the rewards. You felt you had beat some one who was evil and deserved it. The world was better and you felt better for it. You could go back and just relax until next time. Then when they had returned you knew they learnt new trick so had lean new ones also, it was a natural evolution of gaming. But now it's like devs don't care. The bosses that are being created today either use the same method to defeat in all the games, quick time events or are so easy defeat, in any way you just don't care. Where is the feeling of accomplishment? Where is feeling you saved the world? In the Zelda games you felt for the people of Hyrule after defeating Ganon you know saved them. mario you relished the joy in saving peach. Call of duty I felt well big whoop I killed one man one man who wasn't an omnipresent threat like bowser, who was in every castle.
These are main reasons I play classic and retro games. I have a question for you guys what are your reasons for playing older games?

Why I love older games. ie retro
I was born in the 80's and raised in the 90's. So for a start I have very nostalgic feelings towards the consoles of this era. Even though my favourite consoles are of the early 00's the Gamecube and Playstation 2. The reason could be that these are the ones I took gaming seriously on. Finishing the games and even spending two weeks without sleep to finish wind waker. But why are these games to me better than games today.
With all the games that came out on the Playstation 2 (over 10,000 yeah seriously) the ones I played I loved and even carried on to play the sequels on the playstation 3 same with the gamecube to the WII. But the older games were still better. Mainly I believe that because more time was alloted to each game and the love went into them Nintendo has often be slated for being a kids game console.
But that can be it's undoing when they to produce great mature titles like madworld and Eternal darkness: sanity's requiem, two awesome titles that didn't get the respect they deserved. They do now by collectors but they didn't. But when I play the PS3 or 360 I tend to go meh this is boring. Yet I can quite happily play Star wars rogue leader or metal gear solid 2 for hours. The game just enthralls me for hours the feelings you get from playing and actually finishing a boss is great. The fact that these games have never been replicated and still are enjoyable today the graphics may look old the games. Yet they are enjoyable and keep me entertained because the graphics aren't that good the gameplay had to be the draw. Unlike today where graphics are the big selling point.

Let's talk story most of the game had a basic plot with little storline, Link rescues zelda same with mario. Stop the nazi's in WWII or Demonic hordes in most First person shooters. Fantasy and Sci-fi rpgs were about saving the world or country (lets not go in to is Zelda an rpg). Stealth wasn't an option for games you shot lots of bullets, killed bad guys or raced cars again the gameplay was important not the story as such but we filled that in our heads. Because we didn't have much choice rpg's tended to fill in with cutscenes but still left alot out so much so even though we were playing game our imaginations was still being used.

Are Trophies and achievements ruining games? Using science and stuff.
This is what was put forward prior to the playstation 3 having trophies by playstation players. To be honest I don't see the point unless you are a copletionist that I am not. So getting trophies are not the biggest thing to me. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the little blong when I recieve one, I just won't go out of my way to get them. What you may not know is that blong releases Dopamine, a chemical that is connected to pleasure also is released when we view an attractive face, dopamine is released in the same reward pathway that is stimulated when we eat delicious food, make money, have sex, or use cocaine. See that the same chemical that is released on sight of a trophy is the same chemical that cocaine releases and is just as addictive. So even if the game is awful early trophies and the frequency can and in some cases make you want to play because are you looking for you next hit in a very literal way. An addict to dopamine can be usually described as gambling addict because of the dopamine hit they are looking for. When a game has short levels and therefore many and frequent trophies can and has been given high ratings by critics because of the pleasure that little blong gives. Take the call of duty games incredibly short games yet always given high marks though after many gamers have said that it's awful, we can only speculate the high score is given because of the frequent trophy output and the pleasure that gives. Developers may not need know about neuroscience to exploit this just find a pattern that works, random fights can also assist with the excretion of dopamine, by being unready for the attack the win becomes more pleasurable to our brains. Our brains love patterns and regularity so random attacks like in pokemon with a win or capture produces a higher amount of dopamine. So a trophy that is earned via a headshot number or unplanned reason also injects this high volume of dopamine so again making us continue for next unexpected trophy. These are the reasons they are ruining gaming because once earned you don't get them again replayabilty goes out of the window the feel of earning the dopamine hit is obsolete and can lead to a feeling depressed and so gives less of reason to replay and giving game companies a reason to force out a game on yearly basis because of the new trophy hit these games will bring and again charging the £40 for it. Giving us that hit means they don't even have to put all that effort into the new games just increase the frequency of the dopamine hit and we're are hooked until the next one. Without trophies I speculate that game developers will need to put more effort in for us to play not just taking advantage of our own brain chemistry.

The difference between a good game and a great game.
In a previous post I asked were older games better? To more surprise many thought yes they are but why? Well after thinking about I realised you can judge a game in 5 different catagories.
Sim city, graphics not all that great and no story but will keep you entertained for hours. Agatha christies murder by numbers the fact this on is based on a Agatha christie book says everything about the story but it is a boring chore to play. This is why older games seem to be better the gameplay was better and they had to focus on that without having shiny graphics to hide obvious flaws. Story was usually someone saves someone or something, and that works playing the hero not someone who dies during the game seriously what is up with CoD watching an NPC die (final fantasy players know who I'm talking about),yeah that hits hard but you the player for no obvious reason what the hell!! So my conlusion on why older games are better will come up soon. Join me on my channel for lets play videos Jolly gamer channel Keep on gaming.
- Game play: How it plays and is it quick to learn,
- Playability: How fun is it actually to play and would you want to finish it,
- Replayability: not only any extras for finishing it but do you want to play from scratch again,
- Story
- Graphics
But not all games should be difficult like that, such as racing games as they can be picked up and played anytime and you don't want to suddenly get rinsed everytime you have five minutes to spare but they shouldn't be so easy that lapping second place is regular occurrence. They needs to be an in between like mario kart double dash 50cc easy as pie 100 cc challenging enough and 150 F**K YOU NINTENDO!
Playabilty is it fun and is something you want to finish there is nothing worse than a game that is overhyped and you end up think well this is boring why is just wave after wave of villian (CoD looking at you). but decent AI that challenges and is responsive enough to feel real, now some wave games are fun but not in a military shooter. Again you don't want zombies strategizing, that is basically all for that part. Replayability now I'm not a competionist, like to finish the game and that's it unless it's a zelda game. So a game that I want to play again and again and finish it every time some times with extras or just because I fancied to restart from scratch. Story and Graphics are the least important a fun story and pretty graphics if the gameplay is awful or it is just a chore to play.

Are old games better?
With the recent consoles being released just over christmas with brand new games. But are the new games any good? I have had almost all the nintendo console (lacking the super nintendo had a megadrive instead and don't regret it). But are retro games actually better or am I just looking through rose tinted glasses? Well Zelda has kind of gone down since twilight princess but that is only two games in the series.
But Skyward sword and Twilight princess aren't bad games just bad zelda games. Unlike Ghosts and Black ops II and they are bad games repetitive and simplistic. We had some horrendous games in the 80's and 90's Clay fighter 63 1/3 holy snot balls batman that was just almost bad as Superman 64.

Pokemon Giovanni is the good guy theory debunked?
We all know the about Giovanni in Red and Blue games. Leader of team rocket, 8th gym leader and creator of mewtwo.
You may of also heard he may be the good guy and you stop him. Why because of the mewtwo incident, after he created mewtwo. Mewtwo destroyed the lab and escaped, but he goes out to capture him correct? Actually that bit is feasable he gets team rocket to steal the silph scope so he can catch a ghost because Mewtwo being a psychic pokemon is weak to ghost pokemon. But He didn't need the silph scope he could of caught any bug or dark pokemon for the same reason. Why ghost? Maybe because Ghost pokemon are extremely strong pokemon he would need them afterwards as well. Second he tries to get the masterball because of the 100% success rate, yet enough ultraballs would still catch him and he has the money to get them. Was he trying to stop mewtwo's path of destruction? But Mewtwo wasn't on a path of destruction he destroyed the lab then went into isolation.
Now let's actually look at Giovanni as a character he will use pokemon as tools as said in the fame checker by one of scientists
![]() |
| This guy is not very nice. |
![]() |
| Looks like he wants to be left alone right? |
Silph Co. - ScientistWhat is this person like? Team Rocket's Boss is terribly cruel! To him, Pokémon are just tools to be used.
What sort of person would be looking out for the best interest of people let alone a pokemon. Wants mewtwo because in the pokemon the one with strongest pokemon rules the world. Now when mewtwo went and destroyed the lab he was a wild pokemon but if Giovanni cathes him Mewtwo would have to obey him because Giovanni would have all 8 badges and as it says ALL pokemon will obey you with that badge. So he would literally have a nuclear weapon under his control and he is the sort of person that would use it. So everything you did was to stop a powerful weapon getting into the hands of a mad man. This blog is solely based on the games and not the manga or anime

5 reasons Microsoft is better than sony
5. The community
The xbox online community is bigger, louder and and better with chatter constantly going on. Ok I know there is trolls and bad language in the Call of duty games but that isn't exclusive to xbox. Games like Halo and forza have very good online communities that encourage good behaviour and team work. The fact that they give you more points and higher score for co-operative within these games shows this. I know Killzone has a clan system but you still feel lonely in the game and working on your own. Xbox these feeling is never there and you feel like you are in a team.
2. The ability to play music.
The xbox online community is bigger, louder and and better with chatter constantly going on. Ok I know there is trolls and bad language in the Call of duty games but that isn't exclusive to xbox. Games like Halo and forza have very good online communities that encourage good behaviour and team work. I know Killzone has a clan system but you still feel lonely in the game and working on your own. Xbox these feeling is never there and you feel like you are in a team.
4. Early and exclusive access.
Ok xbox doesn't have the biggest exclusive catalogue, but they do have access to dlc, games and franchises prior to anyone else. Games like Mass effect, Bioshock, Dead rising and Minecraft all had first console release on the Xbox. Call of duty gives all rights to DLC access to xbox first. Not only games but the MLB and NFL give exclusive apps to xbox so you can watch live games via the xbox. Plus N64 classic only available through xbox arcade like Banjo kazooie and perfect dark great games always worth a play.
3. Accessibilty
Let's count the ways I can increase my trophy count ps3, psp vita ps4, Lets do gamerscore on xbox 360, my phone, my laptop, tablet, and xbox one. and you can use the same items to talk and message friends on xbox live. You don't need an xbox for an xbox account and you can increase your gamerscore without ever touching an xbox controlller in your life. Most of my latest gamerscore has come from playing on my laptop and games on my phone. I can even message my friends on my friend list without an xbox including party chat. So paying for it doesn't seem so bad given all the choices you have to connect to your friends and your account. You don't need windows 8 or an xbox to do it either I started doing it on vista. Unfortunately Sony hasn't got anything that comes to close to this kind of accessibilty.
![]() |
| Boosting your gamerscore xbox free |
Ok the playstation can do this just not during gameplay. I know some of you may complain but it gets in the way of the story, yet most cutscenes cut out the music and plays on with out it and resumes after it has finished. Playing music during online games is a big thing for me, (no I don't play it down the head set) because it helps me relax and have enjoyable game. Sometimes the music you chose can even change the pace of the game something like fallout 3 which has a good music selection definitely changes pace soon as you start playing Iron maiden instead.
1. Impact on the gaming culture.
Not since Nintendo have we seen a game console make such an impact on the scenery it self. With halo being a household name and an extensive back story and universe. Let alone all the comics, novels and toys that came out as well. Gears of war also coming close with its own line of comics. Playstation hasn't had much luck with it's uncharted or god of war comics, but xbox has. It is continuing a trend of marketing in almost every type of medium when a halo game is released it comes with a toyline and comic book series. Though it previously published by the one of big names marvel has now gone to dark horse it has the big names attached such Micheal brian bendis. Mcfarlane toys making the action figures and now mega blocks has a line out there is little where microsoft isn't on a label this also includes a nintendo ds game made by microsoft studios. There is no mistaking it Xbox is here and it is here to stay.

Cheap book day The sequel
Another cheap book day and it was great three books for less than £20 how awesome three great books. First up is Captain America Winter Soldier, sound familiar should do because that is the title of the new captain america film and this is the book it's based on I love it for one really big reason because it introduced one of my favourite marvel characters Winter soldier Bucky barnes ( he was also my favourite Cap).
This hard cover book for a fiver seriously wow, written by Ed Brubaker who is one of the top writers today. He made this resurrection believable and fit within the marvel universe so even at full price this book is well worth your cash.
Number 2 and 3 are swamp thing raise them bones and pokemon adventures vol 2 WH smith are running a buy one get another half price and after alot of umming and ahhing I chose these two and what great titles again. First things first I'm not a manga fan the whole backwards book thing confuses me but I love pokemon because it is all sorts of great and introduces a character called green who is rumoured to meant to the girl you could of originally played as in the original games.
A great manga title for an avid manga hater lol. Swamp thing raise them bones is one of the best DCnU titles that came out at the start it was well received from beginning even out selling Justice league if you like the DCU this is worth your time written by Scott Snyder who did so much for the reboot with Batman this is a book worth anyones money especially those who like Horror titles. Great art, great story, dark and disturbing definatly in the vein of alan moores books from the 80's.

Facebook and Google plus censorship
So yesterday I wrote five reasons why Sony is better than Microsoft with the intent today to write a 5 reasons why Microsoft is better than Sony to counter the argument giving you guys a full idea on what you should buy next for the right reasons and not the bullshit that they will tell you. But that was superseded by a google plus community owner/Admin taking down yesterdays blog. Giving this reason.
➏ - No flamebait - Posts that encourage constructive conversation and debate are very much welcome. However, posting about vague, subjective material in order to start an argument serves no useful purpose and will be removed. This generally includes any “A vs B” and similar posts where there can be no objective answer. Posts asking for advice on what system/game to get are perfectly fine as long as you give details as to what you're looking for as are posts asking about specific technical differences. remove it this clearly a post which is against this.
Let's take apart that paragraph first,.First it says no flamebait the urban dictionary says:
An email , usually to a message board, written with intent to offend\anger\enrage other persons, so that they will send a flaming email in reply.
Which wasn't my intention it was to educate bad business practises either malicious or not of the companies. But even the replies I got were flamebait expecting me retaliate in kind. Second part Posts that encourage constructive conversation and debate are very much welcome but this is contradicted right after with However posting about vague, subjective
- based on or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions."his views are highly subjective"
synonyms: personal, personalized, individual, internal, emotional, instinctive, intuitive, impressionistic; More
In order to start an argument which serves no purpose will be removed. As I stated not my intention if I offended people that was unintentional, the thought of offending authority I'd be lying if that didn't cheer me up an accident with positive consequences. Third part and where it gets interesting This generally includes A vs B where there can be no objective
- 1.(of a person or their judgement) not influenced by personal feelings or opinions in considering and representing facts.
answer basically only facts are allowed on that page no opinions (unless the owner agrees) by their own reasoning every post is allowed to removed by their own rules. Because all post are subjective based on the opinions of the poster.

5 reasons why Sony is better than Microsoft
5 Shared content.
What do I mean by this? Well if you down load a game you expect all users to be able to play the full version wouldn't you? I mean you wouldn't buy a game twice for the same console would you? Well for some reason microsoft thinks this is a viable use for your money. Yes you cannot play the full versions of arcade games on other accounts except the one you downloaded it on. Yet on the PS3 buy Battlefield 3 premium once and all users now have premium and sharing full games no problem. Full games on all accounts on PS3 but not Xbox 360.
4. Charging for Play for free!

Not a typo yes on xbox live you still have to pay for free to play games and it's not like companies haven't tried to circumvent this. Ok lets take Elder scrolls online (I know this is subscription paid but it only highlights it more). Steam pay for the game plus subscription, PS4 game plus subscription fee (no Playstation plus) Xbox one Game plus subscription Fee plus xbox live gold hmmmm sounds a little greedy don't cha think? Bethesda even tried to go around this but microsoft said no. Now world of tanks is being released with war frame with the free to play mechanic yet still needs xbox gold. Playstation DC universe, Ace combat infinity and now Soul caliber lost souls just announced all play for free without Playstation plus.
3.More exclusive titles.
Ok xbox has halo, fable and forza (ok forza is better than gran tourismo). But Playstation has Killzone, Gran tourismo, Ratchett and clank, Sly cooper and infamous. Yes not including the disgraceful kinect titles because they don't work. But seriously even counting them sony has almost the double of the amount of exclusives. I know fan boys are going to say but we got Dead rising 3 big deal what that compared to almost complete exclusivity from Namco Bandai.
2 Innovations that work.

Ok playstation move may not of been successful but it worked unlike kinect (Why are we being force fed this crap). No game worked properly on Kinect yet the move worked effortlessly (this is my own observations). Try to say xbox off and it would ask you to repeat it and flappy your arms like an epiletic chicken just to switch slide was so much fun. It didn't have Blu ray and went for HD DVD which floundered and died a slow painful death was as painful to watch, Let's not forget it was a £100 add on as well.
1 Greedy bastards.
Lets just be honest here Microsoft just seems to be greedy when it comes to the xbox, look at the list of things you need to pay xbox gold for/and to use but seems to be free or its own fee everywhere else.

What makes a good fandom?
If like me you are obsessive about a certain movie/book series you know all the ins and outs of it you cry when a character dies, smile when they are happy and love the shock twists and turns. But what makes a film or book enter the geek realm and become a fandom. Well lets look at the two earliest Star trek, Star wars and Lord of the rings. First you have everyman lead characters Luke skywalker, James t Kirk and Frodo baggins a main character which isn't any thing special compared look at frodo he doesn't say anything funny half the time gets rescued by Sam. Then you have the side stories which are far from the main and a lot more memorable merry and pippin being captured.
But Frodo he's as boring as you can get. Same with Harry potter he may get to fight Voldemort but no fun lines he is what people want to be with the cool friends. Kirk had spock and the other (I don't know I like star wars so there). Even Luke skywalker the lead character of the star wars trilogy was dull and boring people forget that when they bitch about Anakin being dull. These aren't the most popular charcters in their franchises Han solo and Spock get these, why? Because they get the fun lines the great memorable parts they are the best friends we wanted at school. Not the to be cool guy the one who shared the adventure with them.
So when we saw the lead character not being the cool guy but the everyman who goes on these great adventures. We want some of that and we enjoy it, we enjoy the excitement the thrill and then once we've lived it with them it comes to community we enjoy reliving with like minded friends who got something else from the series and seeing it through their eyes and fresh take on what we hold so dear. I love star wars and sci fi, though I may not see eye to eye on other franchises I can see why they like them.

What marvel does DC does better!
So the bigger comic's companies have been competing for a while now but is one actually better. I say yes but this doesn't mean I don't like marvel I enjoy Gambit, x-men and secret avengers but when it comes to the big events and specials it goes to DC lets look at zombies. DC did a huge event that turned the dead in to zombies a good way to bring them back from the dead.

| DC's Zombies that happens in continuity |
Marvel zombies in different universe and was silly at times but very enjoyable. Yet Blackest night is the better story and didn't have a dozen sequels after. keeping it within continuity without adding a silly storyline in a comic. Yes the brightest day story wasn't great but it was still better than most of marvel zombies.
Lets look at when marvel tries to copy DC first look at civil war the huge event that was written by Mark Millar it's a fantastic story and great art though it is vastly inspired by Watchmen from the hero sacrificing himself at the end to the basic who watches the super heroes (let's not mention both british writers). It has so many parallels on top even the "bad guy's" inspiration to rule the world. But still watchmen is a better book. Now when it comes to the movies marvel films are huge blockbusters yet DC seems to make movies with longer appeal with batman begins being a long term DVD sales hit. My thoughts for today speak tomorrow.

Can call of duty be saved?
Can the call of duty game be saved from the funk of poor games we had recently? I think so modern warfare brought the first person genre to the modern day and did it with a bang. Featuring a real life special force team the SAS unlike the equivelant Rainbow six games which were fictional teams by tom clancy. At the time we need this realism in the games as jumping off point from the WWII games of the past. But then during modern warfare 2 things got silly with the death of roach which I didn't care about to the No russian mission that in a title like Modern warfare wasn't needed and could of been covered with a cut scene. But that brings me to the last 4 games Black ops, modern war fare 3, black ops 2 and Ghosts. The black ops games would of been made better with a mission like No Russian because that is what black ops are. Illegal missions that aren't recorded and remain off the record, I liked the no Russian mission it was just in the wrong game. Ghosts could of been an excellent stealth shooter it's not like they don't sell with great games like rainbow six and Ghost recon doing well but sticking to a wave based if it moves kill it game. They feel more akin to doom then a war simulation. I could talk all day about campers and how they are just the worst type of player. I won't but I will voice my views on how to deter it. Lets talk killstreaks the fact they are AI controlled (mostly) means things like the helicopter and attack dogs up the the kill count with no work needed so they get the win with half the work.

| Look through walls but not be able to shoot yeah that works. |
Also in black ops II you had the mms scanner to try and deter camping but without FMJ's attached all it gave you was an area to avoid thus making it useless attachment to have. So in all it seems that Activision is promoting this type of dirty behaviour, yet worse they have had a glitch with sniper rifles for a while now.

| Look someone knows what they are doing. |
You know what I'm talking about quick scoping because a mixture of perks and the auto assist it doesn't take to long to learn hell I tried it once and thought how is this a skill but taking it away cause the little kids that play the game to cry and kick up because it's unfair and they put it back in. This sort behaviour is why a lot of hardcore gamers are turning of Call of duty for battlefield, the realism is better. Also why not and destructible buildings it would change the game play no end stop the c4 throwing because they would think twice about double tapping that x button or square if your a ps3 player.

Awesome books I found cheap
Yay for charity shops and book shop sales (a nod to my wonderful fiancee). I like being cheap and thrifty and getting watchmen from waterstones for a tenner and Ciaphas Cain defender of the imperium for two quid in British heart foundation praticaly unread can you imagine my excitement no because it knows no bounds. Fantastic reads which I have already read watchmen TWICE since yesterday it is that good!
So this is what will be on my bed/toilet/spare time for a month. The first three are do good how can you enjoy reading about a guy who when running from a fight ends up in a bigger one. I have always loved how the black library did the omnibuses of their novels I have many. Gaunts ghosts, Blood bowl and Malus darkblade to name but a few.
But this leaves me open to next months reading. Maybe another graphic novel even though I have subscribed to marvels mightiest heroes fornightly books part works. So this leaves DC and Image wide open maybe a batman, grifter or even the darkness. But the possibilties are endless but damn my shelves aren't I'll need a tardis soon to store my books.

| A humour filled book in a grim future |
Remember in the darkness of the grim future there is only war and it makes for good reading.
Now to Watchmen how good is this book I've read it many times but never actually owned thank the lord for libraries. But seeing a special sale on at waterstones 20% off everything it was to tempting not to buy a book but I fancied a graphic novel and Watchemen stood out that or Swampthing which also very good damn you Alan Moore you might be a douche but damn you write well.

Hello and welcome
Hello and welcome to the jolly gamer blog. Where I talk crap about anything and everything to do with gaming. I started the new year with a lets play pokemon gold I am getting old and was feeling nostalgic so what better way than to play the best pokemon game in it's original format and I am having so much fun with it. Plus with playstation having a huge sale on final fantasy games and Ace combat infinity coming soon free time and fun time with my lady is getting rare. With everything happening now within the world of gaming and nintendo licensing their games to third companies it excites me more than it really should as a new capcom Zelda game would so epic Peter jackson would have to sell all rights to the tolkein movies as they would no longer be epic. Sony's release of the PS4 has been doing well out selling the xbox one by a million units so that extra £100 was worth it was, consumers don't think so as with last 3 generation price has been a major factor. A company I think that is well worth watching is namco bandai with it's release of dark souls to coming in two months and their free to play games doing insanely well things just seem to be coming up trumps for them all they need to do is work out how to get external license games such as young justice to be better rather than hope it sells under it's name. Call of duty ghost was a crying shame as with black ops actually showed promise of a fresh and new start for the series but failing to live up to it's promise much like a thai hooker. With battlefield 4 being released unfinished to beat Call of duty doesn't seen to of worked as that was a shame and so many bugs on release showing once again finishing to quickly will always leave someone unsatisfied. Lastly Grand theft auto five another game released unfinished and with a broken multiplayer just this time there was no excuse for it was delayed by eight months alot of fans were upset as it failed to live up to expectations. That's my views this week Join me next week for crap on gaming.
